Research Interests

My interest for cognitive neuropsychology rose in the field of symbolic system processing (numbers and language) and evolved to that of learning and experience-driven plasticity. At the moment my main research objective is to understand how learning impacts both efficiency of processing and representation in the brain. In this general context I will examine what are the factors affecting memory for faces throughout the lifespan (behavior, fMRI experiments) and following brain damage. I will also study the consequences of developing expertise in one visual domain like reading onto another one like face processing, both in natural settings (acquisition of literacy) and in training paradigms. Neural competition between faces and words will also be studied through various methods (Behavior, EEG).
