About our lab

The Face Categorization Lab has moved !

While a number of researchers are still located at the University of Louvain in Belgium, the lab is moving in 2018 to the Universit√© de Lorraine  in Nancy (France) as part of the department of health, biology and signal at the CRAN (UMR 7039, CNRS) and the Central University Hospital (CHU) in Nancy.

The goal of our research is to understand how the human brain recognizes people by their face.

We tackle this difficult problem by using a variety of approaches: recording of behavioral measures (psychophysics), human electrophysiology (ERPs, EEG), neuroimaging (PET initially, fMRI), recordings of eye movements with gaze-contingency, single-case studies of brain-damaged patients (prosopagnosia), behavioral and EEG studies of infants and children, and human intracerebral recordings and electrical stimulations.
